Thursdays Are For - Not This Week

Today, I am helping with a funeral lunch and will not be at knit group. Your regularly scheduled post of all the Meaford Knitters' activities will return next week.

From yesterday's comments, it seems as if the picture of my new dust mop coat topper put a smile on a few faces.

The commenters' jury is still out on the shawlette, but opinions ranged from dust mop, to both dust mop and coat topper - a dual purpose item to 'either, but not both' to Gina's comment - "Give it t o your Grand Daughter." Guess that means Gina doesn't think it looks that great on me. :):) Don't you love an honest person?

Thursdays' postings will have to be re-titled this fall. Survivor has moved to Wednesdays. Maybe as suggested by Patti-Ann, I'll name the post 'Thursdays Are For Knit Group and A Survivor Review'.

A techno question. I have always used bloglines for my blog post feeds but they are closing down as of Oct 1. Following their 'helpful' instructions to get a new feed system left me - well, without one. Do any readers know anything about computer issues of this nature? Can you tell me how to transfer to another feed system? Will pay with yarn. Just joking. Every ball in my yarn room has a job to do. But I will be very grateful.

Bloglines provides instructions with screen shots on their main page. Essentially you export to a file, then import in your new reader.

I'm trying out Google reader just now, but I'm not sure I like it. I'll be watching to see if your readers have other suggestions.

I switched to Google Reader awhile ago because Bloglines never showed any updates. It took some getting used to but I like it now. I believe they had a tutorial on their site telling you how to export everything.

Wonder why Bloglines is shutting down. They have a lot of people upset. Fortunate for me, I've always used Google Reader and I like it a lot but afraid I can't help you on how to import your "favorite bloggers". Good luck!

If anyone will come up with an answer, it will be http://nownormaknits2.typepad.com/

She usually gets someone to come up with an answer to this stuff. (and she's a hoot and a very good friend of mine...fellow Vermonter).

I've bounced between Bloglines and Google Reader for a while now and have just imported all my Bloglines feeds into Google.

1. In Bloglines, click on the Feeds tab, then scroll all the way down to the bottom and click on Export Subscriptions.

2. Choose Save File and designate a place to save it. I saved it to my desktop so it would be easy to find.

3. Go to Google Reader, select Settings, then Reader Settings, and go to the Import/Export tab. Copy and past the name of the file you just saved into the "Select an OPML file:" dialog box and hit Upload. All your Bloglines feeds will be imported into Reader - just like magic!!!

p.s. I liked Bloglines better, too... :-(
