Marrying well is a quaint, antiquated phrase usually referring to the wealth of the partner. But despite Fred's tremendous - and so very obvious - lack of wealth, I think I married well.
You see, I married a man who worked in a canning factory in the summers of his youth. A man who knows his way around sharp knives.
A man who every year, without complaint or coaxing, helps get the vegetables ready for the chili sauce.
That's marrying well. At our house, anyway.
You are so right!!!
ReplyDeleteAgree with you on the marrying well thing. Even though I always tease my DH that is God forbid anything ever happens I married for love the first time but the second time I'm going for the cash!
ReplyDeleteMarrying well...good for you. Often women want to marry doctors. Well, after spending $1,500 last week on my car, I'll take a mechanic, thank you. I work with doctors all day...hmmm...still, no thank you.
ReplyDeleteBRAVA!!
ReplyDeleteI married well, too! Over the past few weeks, Bob and I have stood shoulder to shoulder in the kitchen several times, preparing either tomatoes for sauce or apples for (frozen) pie filling.
ReplyDeleteOT: I might just show up at knit group some Thursday, about a month from now! Whoo-hoo!
Ah yes, you DID marry well. My husband talks about canning. But he is a good cook! :-)
